Making New Friends at Harry Potter

As Communications students, we look for any opportunity to find a story in our everyday lives. So while we waited 3+ hours to get into Graumann’s Chinese Theater to see the latest installment of Harry Potter, it was just natural to try to interview strangers walking by with a microphone wand. Enjoy!

Makeup Timelapse

Here is my freestyle project. Ben Norris, the actor in this piece, is a student who is part of the Temple University program here in L.A. Liv Dubendorf did me a solid and used her stage makeup expertise to make Ben look like he had just been in a fight. I hope you enjoy the [...]

Gone Too Soon

LA is huge but small at the same time. It’s the most unpredictable place I’ve ever lived but I feel like I understand it perfectly. I’m a West Coast girl at heart evidenced by my feather hair extensions and need to buy a fedora. In two years I’m never leaving.

50 Words

This summer was one unlike any other.  Typically I go home to Pennsylvania and work a boring restaurant job for three months. This year I sacrificed income for adventure.  I had a successful internship and fulfilled my dream of becoming a producer.  Los Angeles has changed me for the better.

Getty By Way of the Hollywood Hills

With only one week left before heading back to the East Coast we thought it would be appropriate to head to the Getty Museum yesterday. We figured it would be embarrassing to be in Los Angeles for an entire summer without going and I’ve been told repeatedly how gorgeous it is. However, on our way [...]

Los Angeles in 50 Words

Its beaches are covered in street art and roller coasters. Men dressed as Iron Man direct traffic. Its movie theaters are filled with people that cheer after every scene. It is the only city surrounded by mountains. It loves its hamburgers. It is an adventure that everyone needs to experience .

TTFN, LA.

It first started off with the hike from hell.  Thank God climbing up Cahuenga Peak wasn’t an actual metaphor for my summer. Instead of a summer filled with just rocks and Albuterol breaks, it was filled with Kardashians, Disney, Gruamann’s, Venice Beach, amazing burgers, crazy traffic and terrific new friends.

Super Focused on Running Away

I have been so busy because I am working on three of the five final films! “Super People” is written by my roommate Asha Michelle Wilson so that’s awesome and it’s really funny. I’ve been running sound for that and seeing it all come together is great. Not to mention the great spandex-y costumes for [...]

Feels Like Home

Here I Am-Bryan Adams I can’t believe it’s August 1st tomorrow and we’ll be leaving in less than a week. Time has flown by so quickly since I’ve been here, and I’ve already been feeling sad and nostalgic and I haven’t even left yet. When I first got accepted into the program, I wasn’t sure [...]

I’ll be back

I will withhold from posting an image or video of the former governor of California from the Terminator films as that would be the easiest thing. A week from today I will be back on the east coast, at home with my family, and doing practically nothing for two weeks, though that does have its [...]

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II

So, by far, one of the coolest things that happened this summer was getting our picture taken at the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. It was completely random when we were standing in line, but we got up on a couple of websites which was super cool. [...]

Meeting with Marilyn

This past week, I had the great pleasure of meeting with Marilyn, one-on-one, for a personal coaching session. I thought I would be rehearsing and essentially getting practice-based instruction. We met by the pool and we ended up talking all about acting and philosophies and such. I gave her a brief rundown of my previous [...]

Hot Diggity

I’m not entirely a vegetarian but I consider myself to be a “social carnivore”, a term I semi made up to mean one who only eats meat when there is no alternative. Before I came to Los Angeles, I hadn’t eaten a piece of meat for months. But there’s something about this city that brings [...]

How to put it?

Los Angeles, you’ve taught me much: Patience is a virtue, getting angry at the traffic never made it move any faster. Think you know it all? Think again, hard. Always remember that filmmaking is a team effort. Even though you doubt, things will work out for the best. Thank you!

Adventures In Filming

Directing “Super People” has been nothing short of an adventure. We are finishing up filming the final scenes tomorrow and it’s being released this Wednesday at the Elon in LA summer screening. We finish up filming tomorrow. I’m really excited to share the final product with everyone. Check out our Facebook Page.

Backlot Tours

I have so far been on 3 backlot tours, 1 at Universal Studios and 2 at the Warner Brothers’ Studios.  Though they were all similar in that they had sounds stages and sets, the setups of the tours were very different.  The Universal tour played out like a ride or sorts complete with gimmicks and [...]

Enjoy the Sunsets

I can’t believe the summer is almost over and we’re leaving LA in a week! This summer flew by. One of the things I’ve been trying to take advantage of these last few weeks has been seeing the sunset on the beach. With the mountains in the background, it’s an amazing view. I highly recommend [...]

feather frenzy

A few weeks into this summer, I decided to get feather hair extensions. I decided that I would get small ones to be subtle.  Basically, so I could send pictures to my mom and she wouldn’t judge me for having blue feathers attached to my scalp. I mean, the trend was popularized by Steven Tyler. [...]

Getting FOCUSed

Directing my first short film has been quite an adventure and a great experience so far. Pre-production was foreign to both Jenna Troester, the producer, and I; but we experimented and found our way through team work and motivation. From location scouting, to casting, to schedule planning, and shot brainstorming the gears of the ‘Focus’ [...]

The Little Things

Sometimes it’s the little things in life that can light up your whole day… Making it through the light at Hollywood and Highland without traffic. Seeing a celebrity. Cheap yogurt at Menchie’s. An impromptu concert on the boardwalk near the beach. Driving down sunset at 3 a.m. and no one’s there. Walking onto your balcony [...]
