Despicable Me Premiere

Before today, I had not seen a single celebrity since arriving in Los Angeles.   But, that all changed today when Barrett and I attended the world premiere of Despicable Me.  I really didn’t know what to expect when we bought tickets a week ago.  Despicable Me was the closing film for the 2010 LA Film Festival so we were able to easily get tickets online for $25.

When we arrived we had to go to will call to pick up our tickets where we stood in line among the press and other filmmakers.  Then we made our way to the yellow carpet.  At first, all we saw were the little yellow minions from the movie, but it wasn’t long until the big stars began to show up.  We saw many different celebrities including Steve Carell, Jason Segel, and Julie Andrews.  We couldn’t stay long because we had to get seated, but other actors in attendance included Kristen Wiig, Russell Brand, Miranda Cosgrove, and James Marsden.

The premiere was held at the Nokia Theater L.A. Live, which had to have been the largest theater I have ever seen.  As for the movie, it was so good and I would definitely recommend that everyone see it when it officially comes out on July 9th.  As with most children’s movies, the story was somewhat predictable, but it did not make the movie any less enjoyable.  The characters were very lovable and you couldn’t help but sharing in their emotions.  I strongly recommend this movie to anyone who is simply looking for a “feel-good” movie that will make you laugh.

Overall, it was a great day and I loved having the opportunity to attend the premiere.  If I have the chance to attend another premiere, then I definitely will in a heartbeat.  Below are pictures I took of the stars on the yellow carpet.  They aren’t the best quality, but they document my first celebrity sightings.
