Live Tapings Part 2: The Tonight Show with Jay Leno

I just got back about an hour ago from a taping of “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno. Leno is a live taped show so unlike a sitcom, there are no cuts or re-dos. We waited for about an hour and a half until we were let into the studio. We were sitting way on the left side right in front of the double doors where the musical performance takes place. Before the show a comedian came out and did some stand up and handed out shirts and hats. Then completely unexpected, Jay Leno came out and talked to the audience and took some pictures. He was wearing his trademark denim shirt and jeans. He went backstage to change before the show started. The band came out and played a few songs for us while we waited and after 2-3 songs, the show started. Leno did came out and did his monologue which was hilarious. It was tuesday so he did “Headlines” where he shows new clippings that are unintentionally funny. The first guess was Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Freaks and Geeks). Two fans had posted flyers by his house asking him to marry them so over the weekend he became a minister of the Universal Church of Life and he married them on the Tonight Show. The second guest was Jenny “JWOWW” Farley (The Jersey Shore). She was a terrible interview; at times Jay seemed to be reaching out to his producer for things to talk about. The musical guest was Enrique Iglesias who sang his theme song for “The Jersey Shore” called “I Like It.” The song is so bad I might have actually rather heard him sing “Heroe” (I stress MIGHT). After an hour and a half it was over. It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend going if you have a day off and can get tickets.
