Hollywood: some would say, “the glamorous place in California where movie stars live and work.” FALSE (to some degree)
Hollywood boulevard: surprisingly a huge tourist trap that is tragically tacky. Although it is a tourist trap and you won’t find a celebrity walking around (despite the impersonators) it is a neat experience to walk along the sidewalks where the stars of the famous people who have come and go in the entertainment industry lay.
The Elon in LA class had the privilege of touring the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and learning about its rich history of famous movie premieres and movie stars’ hand prints. The inside of the theatre is quite large and is capable of playing digital, film, and 3D movies. The theatre has transformed into various themes depending on the film. From laying down a yellow brick road carpet and bringing in munchkins for the Wizard of Oz premiere to Jim Carey’s upcoming movie Mr. Popper’s Penguins where they will be bringing in penguins and creating an icy theme. It would be awesome to go to a movie premiere sometime this summer in the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre…or sometime in my life. Click this link to see what movies have premiered at the theatre in 2o11.
Here are some photos I took from our trip to Hollywood Blvd:
