Location Scouting and Changing Locations

As Chris Liotta said in an earlier post, location scouting is a pain. Los Angeles is a huge city, with so many different people and places to see. While it provides endless opportunities to see new places, it makes it hard to decide where to scout for a project.

When it was time for Will Anderson, Cassidy Stone, and myself to go scout for a location we all got in Will’s car with a few ideas and drove. Our original idea was to find a nice neighborhood where we could film, but on the way there we stumbled upon a park that we thought was perfect for our short.

However, when we spent more time there shooting some test footage we decided we wanted to look for a different location. Will ended up finding the location that we used which was the Old Zoo at Griffith Park.

If there is one thing that I have learned from this experience is that you need to keep looking at locations all the time, not just when you need to find a place to film.
