If ever you find yourself bored, here’s a challenge: Find any point in the year where there isn’t something interesting going on in the city of Los Angeles. That should keep you busy for a while. It seems as though my classmates are stumbling upon unique events every day, and it came as no surprise when I was turned on to the Outdoor Cinema Food Fest in Downtown LA.
The festival took place on the lawn directly in front of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (home of the USC Trojans) and featured live music, a row of LA’s best food trucks, and a massive inflatable movie screen that displayed The Matrix. The event was a relaxing alternative to the frenetic pace of college life, and lounging on a blanket with a Scooby Snack in hand (a sandwich with peanut butter, jelly, chocolate sauce, roasted marshmallows, and cinnamon on toasted bread) was indicative of the laid-back nature of Southern California.
The festival runs weekly, so if you’re in the area, be sure to catch it the next time it rolls around.
