LA Bucket List

In our apartment, we have a big poster that says “Los Angeles Summer 2011 Bucket List.” It’s large and colorful and busy, with a million different wants scrawled across it in an array of markers that have somehow seeped into every crevice in our apartment by now. Week by week, the four of us, Kierstin, Alyson, Liv, and I, mark our initials next to each thing we have done. It was so weird at the beginning to look at all the possibilities ahead of us with no initials by anything… and then, slowly, it started to fill up. We added things from time to time, and a certain Russian man defiled the simplicity of the words with a small cartoon drawing right in the middle… but overall, we were really proud of our board.

Now, 9 weeks later, two days before the end of our time here, I looked at the board again last night. There are only a few things left on the list we haven’t done, and we’re packing in as many as we can. Last night we hit the Griffith Observatory – one more thing off the list. It’s so amazing to see how far we’ve come in such a short time. I feel like we’re all true Californians now with thousands of experiences under our belts. We’ll tell stories of this summer for years to come. I have one more year, but I plan to be back here for sure. I think I’ve found home in this city of dreams. I’ll never forget the memories of..

  • San Diego Zoo
  • Santa Monica Pier
  • Getty Center
  • Malibu
  • Cirque du Soleil
  • Skybar
  • The Price is Right
  • So You Think You Can Dance
And many, many more… thanks LA for the memories. I’ll see you again soon.
