One of the best things I’ve done in LA was finally checking out Laemmle’s Royal Theater on Santa Monica Blvd. It was a major pain driving all the way out there, but very worth it. The theater has only one screening room that seats almost 600 people and only shows one film about 3 times per week on weekdays. This week they showed the highly anticipated, “Farewell, My Queen”, directed by Benoit Jacquot and starring Diane Kruger as a controversial tale of the proclivities of Queen Marie Antoinette at the start of the French Revolution. The film was great and one of the only films that was allowed to shoot on location at the actual palace of Versailles. Seeing it in such a theater was an unforgettable experience.
